Safe Schools

Lord Dorchester Secondary School

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on enhancing our school community though making connections between community members

We are doing this to/because our data continues to show we have a significant population of students who remain disengaged in their learning and who would benefit from positive social interaction in the school community.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • We will ensure students know what supports are available at LDSS (Classroom teachers, Student Success teacher, Learning Support teachers, Guidance counsellors, Social work/attendance counsellors, MLHU nurse, etc.)
  • We will ensure all students know how to access the Anonymous Care feature on our website, as part of our ECL at the start of each semester.
  • We will continue to offer opportunities that attempt to provide genuine connections for students within the LDSS community and with each other.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about activities/connections that they have made while at LDSS.
  • Try talking about the positive social interactions their student is having at school when at home with your child.
  • Check out this resource @TVDSBEquity about information and ideas.
